Energetic Games...

Her Tale (Sunday 30th October 2016)

I have been musing about the merits of buying new curtains. Since Siamese Kittens Pasha & Tanni joined the household the formerly pristine curtains look as if they have been in a battle zone!

After a good deal of shopping around I finally found the perfect curtains. I was just on the brink of ordering them with that frisson of excitement which accompanies a purchase costing a fortune when something happened which stopped me in my tracks.

With shorter days and longer nights Siamese Cats Pasha & Tanni have had their outside play time curtailed net result they have extra energy to burn.
Almost overnight they have reverted to kittenhood racing around upstairs & downstairs touching down on one step between floors.

Leaping off high kitchen cupboards and over furniture and skidding across the wooden floors sending rugs and cushions flying.

Hiding behind the curtains and ambushing one another with paws and claws out stretched.

Boys will be boys I think to myself with a doubtful smile…

Better hold off the new curtains for a little while longer….

Halloween....

Pasha’s Tail (Saturday 29th October 2016)

Tanni & I have been told this is Halloween weekend and we have been practicing hard flying round in the house as if all the beasts from hell were behind us. Well that’s what She tells us. To be honest we are just letting off steam before the cold weather sets in. Like all creatures we can tell it is on it’s way but we just can’t pin point exactly when.

While the Sun is out and it’s bright and light we are running around outside and inside the house just because we can. Eventually we settled down in the Orangery to snooze. All this running around can be tiring.

Tanni’s Tail (Saturday 29th October 2016)

The leaves on the trees and shrubs in the garden have turned into a bright range of yellows and reds and oranges. Cats take notice of this sort of thing. Already the leaves from the cherry tree are fluttering down and blowing across the garden. We find this good fun playing in the piles of leaves but we notice She keeps raking them up. We find this very puzzling.

We have hidden most of our spiders and bugs away and are waiting for them to come out so we can pounce on them! We feel sure they will come out again some time soon.

We have been told we will get an extra hour in bed tomorrow morning. We know She always has an extra hour in bed after we wake up. We try to play quietly so we don’t disturb Her. But sometimes Pasha & I get carried away and our games get boisterous.

But first there are strange things to look out for at the time of Halloween. Or so we have been told. But humans forget we Cats can see and tune into mysterious goings on most of the time.

Being Cats we see spooks and things behind the veil between Heaven and Earth. We are surprised that humans can’t see these things too……

A dawning realization....

Her Tale (Friday 28th October 2016)

If you enjoy our adventures keep checking in for new updates from Pasha & Tanni at the house of Siamese!

Out for the afternoon I arrived home just in time for the 6o’clock News which means dinner time for Cats followed by playtime. Pasha & Tanni having been slumbering all afternoon were ready to let off steam but being dark they were confined to the house.

Very soon our home resembled a race track with cat paws and tails flying around doors and up and down the stairs. They launched off the furniture flying across the room slithering and sliding across the wooden floor. Rugs were disheveled cushions hit the ground. I could only look on in total amazement.

By the time Autumnwatch came on TV they were exhausted and so was I! Pasha walked up to the screen when the mouse maze came on but soon disappeared into his favourite sleeping quarters – his log basket.

Tanni once again went wild for the Fox leaning forward towards the screen and uttering little chirruping noises. This time he responded to the badger watching him carefully. As the programme ended I could see Tanni’s eyes growing heavier and his beautiful head started to nod. It wasn’t long till he too drifted back to the land of nod.

Fast forward a couple of hours till bedtime and the Siamese boys awoke refreshed ready for a playtime encore. I got out the toy basket and Pasha played with a gold foil wrapper a survivor from chocolate coins from a Christmas past. Tanni watched but declined to get involved. I tried tempting him with things he would normally be drawn to but this time no reaction.

I searched around for more toys to tempt him with but again he wasn’t interested and by this time neither was Pasha. Nothing for it but to go to bed and leave them to it.

Big mistake! It was then they resumed their earlier game running around like the wild horses of the Camague!

As the days get shorter and the weather keeps them indoors I must think up some activity games to keep Pasha from sky diving and climbing up anything which takes his fancy. Tanni from jumping over Pasha and both from kickboxing……

I wonder if I could interest them in cleaning the windows…? Ironing perhaps….? Or in cleaning their litter trays….?

I can but dream….as I marvel at how much fun they are and on how much I adore them!

Late October musings....

Her Tale (Thursday 27th October 2016)

Apologies to Pasha & Tanni but I forgot about a gardening group meeting so no Autumnwatch last night but we are already looking forward to tonight’s installment!

While Pasha is running around outside in the damp and uninspiring garden Tanni is here with me playing with his chenille pipe cleaner ‘snake’ He keeps bringing it to me and I accept the ‘gift’ graciously. I hope this doesn’t translate into fledglings come the Spring. Perhaps I should just enjoy the moment!

Not for the first time it occurs to me how clever Cats are…. Pasha scoots his toy mouse into a miniscule gap under the oven and then dismantles the skirting board at floor level next to it to retrieve his ‘prey’. Not an easy task to dismantle the kitchen! But one very sassy and smart solution to a problem!

Meanwhile Happy Birthday to my Scorpio Dad – but which Birthday will have to remain a secret…..

TV Heaven....

Tanni’s Tail (Wednesday 26th October 2016)

She told me Autumnwatch would be on TV again this evening and my whiskers quivered in anticipation. I jumped on the sofa ready for a good night’s telly but I could feel myself getting more and more drowsy.

First the squirrel appeared on the screen and I blinked hard trying to keep awake.
Then the mouse maze appeared with the most delightful mouse scampering about. This got me up from the sofa as I hurried to the screen. I jumped up a few times and showed it the paw but soon tiredness overcame me. I moved lithely back to the sofa and fell fast asleep.

At some stage I was aware of Her covering me with a feather light fleece. I purred my thanks and snuggled deeper into the land of nod.

Pasha’s Tail (Wednesday 26th October 2016)

Mostly there is nothing on TV to interest me but last night Autumnwatch was an exception.

From across the room in my log basket I spotted birds of prey hovering across the screen inviting me to investigate. Up I jumped and rushed to the telly. I stretched up to reach these birds. I kept tapping my paw at the screen to touch them but there was something in the way. Try as I might I couldn’t reach them.

I went to investigate behind the TV looking for a way into the box. The birds disappeared and humans appeared. I like humans but the birds were much more interesting.

went back to my comfy log basket and ruminated. There must be a way into the screen and if I try hard enough I know I will find it.

With that thought I found I was thinking so hard I soon fell asleep.

Latest newsflash!

Her Tail (Tuesday 25th October 2016)

Latest newsflash both Pasha & Tanni enjoy eating banana! That Tanni eats it doesn’t surprise me as he will give most things a go. But fussy Pasha is a choosy feline! Gradually they are adding more fruit & veg to their treat list and I promise it has nothing to do with me being a veggie! They still have their vast menu of dry cat food currently three choices; and wet food currently seven brands of varying types of meat and fish.

It’s when they start developing a taste for champagne and chocolate I shall start to worry!

Autumn Watch...

Tanni’s Tail (Tuesday 25th October 2016)

I was curled up on the sofa with Her watching TV and congratulating myself that I am now Top Cat again when I saw Mr Tod the fox! How did he manage to get past Pasha & me and onto the screen? We used to think animals were inside the box ready to jump out but now we are older and wiser we know different. Although we still don’t quite understand how they get there and what happens to them when they disappear?

Her Tale (Tuesday 25th October 2016)

Tanni and I settled down to watch Autumn Watch along with Countryfile one of his favourite programmes. Tanni is a telly Cat and particularly enjoys watching animal programmes. I had no idea how many animals and birds of all shapes appear on TV nightly till Tanni enlightened me!

Last night was a bumper night. First we saw the very handsome ginger marmalade Cat Bob soon to star in his own movie!

Then we saw the welcome return of Autumn Watch. As the animals appeared on the screen Tanni rated them one by one for interest.

Deer were worth a cursory glance. Birds always of interest. The red squirrel very watchable especially when he twitched his tail and his whiskers.

But it was the mouse maze which made him sit up and take notice and quiver his whiskers. As the wild mouse navigated the maze of it’s own free will coming in from the cold seeking the nuts Tanni could hardly contain his excitement.

However it was the fox which had him leaning forward ears pricked neck craned eager to take him on! Quite clearly Tanni recognised the fox who he must’ve met on his daytime garden jaunts. With chickens in a neighbouring garden this wouldn’t be much of a surprise.

The Dove that got away...

Her Tale (Monday 24th October 2016)

Siamese Cats Pasha & Tanni are snuggled up together in the cat bed on my desk fast asleep and looking for all the world as if butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths! They would like of course to be outside with the window cleaner and the man who is cleaning the guttering. But I have long ago reached the conclusion that playful Cats and workman aren’t a good mix!

Or perhaps they are dreaming of the dove that got away…. Thank goodness!

A bird in the hand...

Her Tale (Monday 24th October 2016)

I have just heard a neighbour’s report of a near miss with a collared dove over the weekend. Culprit unknown. Apparently the culprit inched nearer and nearer the bird but tumbled off the branch before he could grab the bird. Thank goodness!

If only I knew which boy it was I would be having serious words on the subject. As it is I am scowling at them both....

A Wild Saturday Night...

Her Tale (Monday 24th October 2016)

Whatever happened to Siamese Cats Pasha & Tanni over the weekend?
After a day of exploring the neighbourhood and visiting the kittens Milo & Max they revisited their own kittenhood.

Once it is dusk they are gated to avoid meeting up with the n’er-do-wells the stoats & weasels Mr Tod the fox Tommy Brock the badger Samuel Whiskers the rat. All of whom might be partial to the rump of Siamese Cats!

Well this is what I tell the boys….and anyway it’s much warmer and more cosy indoors where I can keep an eye on them.

Perhaps they wanted my attention as I watched Strictly? Suddenly they began taring around the house as they did when they were three four and five months old. Over the leather sofa (thankfully still covered with a throw) behind the curtains jumping up on the bannister and stair rails. Pasha jumped up on top of the kitchen cupboards and straight down again just because he could… Even Tanni could only stare in amazement!

For almost an hour they were charging around like wild horses and it wasn’t even a Full Moon night!
